FAQ's

Can I drop / collect my clubs from Hitchin?

Yes, we have a secure locker in the gym reception.  Payments however can’t be taken at the gym reception so all orders must be paid in full before collection.  No appointment is needed, and you can drop off and collect at any time whilst the gym is open.

Do I need custom fit clubs?

Any golfer regardless of ability can benefit by having correctly fitted golf clubs.  Having the right length, loft or lie allows for more consistency in set up and makes it easier to learn and progress through lessons.

What if my swing changes?

Although the changes may be very small in the way you swing, we understand this can make differences to the way your clubs perform.  Our advanced loft and lie sessions as well as our retro fittings can help to identify if any changes are required.

Does putter fitting really make a difference?

This for a lot of fitters is our area of disbelief.  Customers are willing to spend on drivers they’ll use maybe 13 times a round but unwilling to spend on a club you will use for almost half your shots!  On average golfers will use the putter between 30 to 40 times a round and maybe more if you putt from off the green.  Fitted putters allow for more consistent putts, though differing face, and head technologies we can find a putter that rolls better, is easier to align, and that feels comfortable to how you like to stand and swing the putter.

Which Brands do you offer?

Our brand partners are Callaway, Cobra, Titleist, Mizuno, PING, TaylorMade, Miura, Srixon/Cleveland, Evnroll, Odyssey, Scotty Cameron, True Temper, Project X, Accra, Aerotech, UST Mamiya, Fujikura, Mitsubishi Chemical (MCA), Aldila, KBS, Shimada, Nippon, VA Composites, Graphite Design, Golf Pride, Iomic, Lamkin, G-Rip and SuperStroke.

How often should I change grips?

This is dependant of frequency of use as dirt and oils from your hands can affect the tack of your grips.  General recommendation is to change your grips once every 12 months though if you play a lot of golf changing more regularly would be beneficial.  To be more consistent in your game your grips need to provide the maximum levels of grip as this is your only contact point to the club.  Club that has more frequent use that others like your putter or driver may need to be re-gripped more often that the rest.

Do I have to pay the full amount upfront for my order?

No, you are to split your order in 2 and place a 50% deposit upon ordering and pay the balance upon collection.  We also have the option of using PayPal pay in 3, please ask you fitter for more details or contact the office on info@customlabgolf.com.

Do you offer a warranty on hand-built clubs?

The clubhead is covered by the manufacturer warranty and will have to be sent to the manufacturer for inspection before a replacement is issued.  With shaft and grip, Custom Lab Golf offer a 12-month warranty on manufacturing defects.  We will inspect all warranty claims through our workshop.  Our decisions on warranty faults are based upon industry consensus of know manufacturing faults within golf equipment and thus our decision will be made on this basis.  Anything deemed by us and our professional workshop team to fall outside these industry parameters will not be covered and will be outlined to the customer.

Can I rearrange my fitting once booked and paid for?

Yes, you can but we request that any changes to your fitting date/time is done at least 24 hours prior to your original fitting date and time.  This can be done by contacting the office team on 01462 600491 or emailing info@customlabgolf.com.
